Another U.S. military aircraft has made an emergency landing in the Luchu (Ryukyu) Island of Aguni, off the coast of Uchinaa (Okinawa Island).
According to Ryukyu Shimpo, the U.S. CH53E helicopter experienced system failure before touching down on an abandoned runway near Aguni Village. "I am grateful no one was injured," said Shuichi Takara, mayor of Aguni. "But the harmful effects of the U.S. military bases can again be felt." Incidents like these are common across the Luchu Islands. In some cases, U.S. military aircraft accidents have killed or injured Uchinanchu (Okinawan) civilians, or have damaged property.
