Trump orders federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe

Within his first week in office, President Donald J. Trump fulfilled one of his campaign promises by writing a memo directing the Department of Interior to draft a plan to grant federal recognition to the Lumbee Tribe. The Lumbee people have long been striving for federal recognition, and President Trump's historic actions are a major step in fulfilling that goal.
